OP, please don't abuse thermostats by turning them up to 30 deg C. All you're likely to do is waste money whilst your heating system tries in vain to reach a temperature it can't effectively reach, especially in winter.0

Unlike convected heat, which circulates in a room, radiant heat doesn't travel far. The floor should be acting as a large convection source.
I suppose the theory is that one is never more than a few metres from the ceiling, but it sounds like a recipe for a hot head to me!0 -

I'm only down the road from you in Basingstoke and my heating is only ever on from late November to early February and never above 18 degrees0

My guess is the radiant ceiling heat is provided by infra red panels.0
