Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help. My son is trying to use a microsoft sidewinder precision 2 joystick on an apple mac computer and is struggling. It starts off by working fine then after about 40 seconds it drops out and he can't use it. He is getting very frustrated as he is trying to do some training. Does anyone know of anything he can do to get it to work or alternatively can anyone recommend one to buy which will work with the apple computer. Many thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

That joystick is from 1998. It's unlikely to be compatible. You need a macintosh-compatible joystick. Have a look at Logitech. Saitek I think are also compatible but might be OTT for what you need.
EDIT: Third-party drivers/software might help - look at GamePad Companion app - it will allow you to use that joystick with a Mac.0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the info. The joystick was lent to my son by a friend to save him buying one. He has downloaded the app and again it works for about a minute and then everything inverts i.e. the lines on the screen go the opposite way to what they are supposed to.
I think we may have to invest in a new joystick unless anyone can come up with any other ideas. Thanks for your help.0 -
tumbletots - is it possibly a hardware problem - ie does it work OK beyond 1 minute on a PC? Before you go chasing something that will never work!0
