Disabled parking bay fine - Scotland

Hi
Someone I know has received a parking fine for being parked in a Disabled bay for 'not having the disabled badge on show.' Before you say anything, yes they did have a disabled badge but granted not within great/easy view.
They have received 2-3 letters from the private parking company, and now received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd demanding almost twice the amount of the initial charge. Understandably they are a bit worried as there is mention of being taken to court etc on the letter.
Should this still be ignored or are they best contacting the debt recovery company, as it is a bit different being charged for parking in a disabled bay without having the badge on clear display - or should they still be ignored?

Ignore, ignore, ignore. Then.. when you have finished ignoring, carry on and ignore some more.
They can only persue the driver in Scotland, and if they are never contacted, then they can never find out who the driver was.
The keeper will continue to get letters from the debt recovery co, using ever more desperate language and big red scary font, but they are toothless.0 -
Seejay, as catfunt says, it is absolutely imperative that nobody contacts the parking company at all, ever.
It is not a fine, it is a speculative invoice.
Please tell the person concerned, as well as everyone you know who lives in Scotland, ignore private parking companies.
In addition, anyone who lives outside Scotland can also safely ignore a PCN that allegedly occurs in Scotland. If you know any visitors to Scotland you can tell them they can ignore these parking scammers as well as Scottish residents.
The word needs to be spread across the whole of the UK about this unregulated industry and how Scotland and NI are safe havens with regards to these companies.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

IGNORE
Does this also apply to residents of Scotland who get a parking invoice for parking in a supermarket car park in England when on holiday?0 -

Yes, absolutely.
The Protection of Freedom Act 2012 does not exist in Scotland. Private parking companies cannot use or apply English/Welsh law in Scotland/NI.
Of course, nobody here would ever suggest that a permanent resident of another country deliberately breach made up private parking company rules in England or Wales just to taunt them.

Yes of course - and in Welsh supermarket car parks too.
I have a drawerful of such speculative invoices. LOL
Those who live or park in N. Ireland also benefit from the same lack of inclusion in POFA 2012.0
