Hi our mortgage is due for renewal in may 2018. At present i have 5 k on an 0% card due to doing a load of home improvements recently. Its looking like we will need a new car by next year.
Im able to pay off £500 a month on the card or even more. When it comes to getting a new car i really only need to spend about 3k so trying to work out if its ok to pay less on the card and save up for the car.
What sort of effect on the remortgage will a small amount on credit card have if i pay less off and get the newer car ?
When we remortgage i want to drop 25k out of the equity to build a small extenstion and finish the houses refurb off.
The house is worth well over 400k and the remaining mortgage will be 92k without the extra on it. I will be 48 at remortgage time and will be earning over 50k
As i have been refurbing the house top to bottom all our money has gone into the property so savings are low apart from the emergency fund for mortgage payments.
Also i have been overpaying the mortgage for the last 3 years to reduce it.
Once the house is finished and the credit card paid off our ability to save will sky rocket.
Thanks
