AVOID First Central Insurance AVOID

I would just like to start by saying that i had a year of car insurance with First Central, and i wouldn't go back. If i required a car to exist on this mortal plane, and that was the only insurance provider available, i would sooner tear my arms off and feed them to an alligator.
I didn't have any real issues until it came to cancelling my policy with them. That was when the fun started. In the wording of my policy it said that i would be subject to a loss of the £50 arrangement fee (paid upon creating my policy), and a potential hidden £50 additional fee. I accepted that much, albeit a bit unhappy about secret fees.
But then i got my bill of £230 for cancelling my account. When i quizzed them about it, all i was told was that i was paying for the arrangement fee (Remember i said that was paid at the start of my policy), the secret bonus £50, a £30 late fee (which i paid when my payment was a day late) was to be paid again, and also, i was paying for days insured.
I demanded to know what the hell i was paying days insured for, when i had been paying my insurance every month without fail (and only the one late payment), and every time, no matte who i spoke to, i came up empty. They were adamant that i should pay it, but couldn't tell me why.
Finally a manager told me that it was too high of a bill, and it would be reduced. But when i rang again after seeing no difference in the bill total, i was told that the conversation never happened.
So, i contacted the call listening team to prove the matter, and they told me that they would be back in touch, and to simply await their phone call to update me. That phone call never came.
But what did turn up, was an email from a debt collectors agency, saying that if i didn't pay up, they would pay me a visit.
I've now paid that because i had no option, and will be pursuing legal action against the con artists.
NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!
And if you are already using it. Run. Run fast.

In all honesty, this is my first time having debt collectors contacting me, and i didn't have a clue what to do other than pay them. My partner is due to go into labor any day, and we didn't need the stress of it really.0

In all honesty, this is my first time having debt collectors contacting me, ......
But they are toothless!
But in future never pay a bill you don't agree is correct.
Always put any bill like this "into dispute", (to keep the "high ground" you can pay the creditor the sum you do agree you owe and then await the outcome of the dispute on what to do about the amount being demanded you don't agree with)0 -
Make an "Official Complaint" First Central are duty bound to properly investigate your complaint and report back within eight weeks. At which stage if you're still not happy you can refer the matter to the Ombudsman to review.
When you make your complaint, try and keep it concise and polite, just stick to the saliant points and remove all the rest.0 -
Please read my post about Gap insurer... Go to the Ombudsman. They will investigate.0
