Un-asked for Credit Cards

in Credit cards
My grandson keeps receiving applications for credit cards which have not been asked for. Thankfully I get them before he does, otherwise he might be tempted. Is there a way to put a stop to this? It is disgusting that they are allowed to get away with it inviting young people to get into debt.

Unfortunatly without phoning them up or writing back asking them to not send marketing its not possible.0

Tell him to register with the Mailing Preference Service.0

Ad a matter of interest how old is your grandson?0

I thought it was illegal to send unsolicited pre-approved credit cards?0

I read it as the grandson is receiving application packs for cards - not the cards themselves.0

I would be furious if my parents or grandparents were stealing and destroying my mail. You have no right to do that, he is obviously at an age where he can decide for himself.0

It's not disgusting it's a marketing ploy.
You may need to sit down and have a chat with your grandson about money matters.
Educate him what he could achieve if he saves and makes good decisions.
How old is he?
Marketing is marketing....the company may have done a local mail shot in the area.
You need to talk about his financial future. Let him make balanced choices about saving and spending wisely. By taking his post away won't help matters. What happens if he is requesting information about cc have you asked him?
Help him become financially savvy. My parents never had a cc and was I told it wasn't a good idea but they never fully explained about interest rates, amount to pay back. I found out the hard way later in life.
I'm not sure if mail shots for cc have been banned but you cannot stop the inevitable. Just give him the tools to make wise choices.
Yes it depends how old he is and if he is working or not. If he has no credit history then he may get an awful initial rate anyway and that may shock him too.0 -
Assuming that your grandson is of sound mind and cognitively intact I think the disgusting thing here is you taking it upon yourself to control what post he's 'allowed' to receive.0
