My father passed away a year ago. I have just been going through his bank statements, and have found that he was being charged £17 per month for a Platinum account. These date from around 2008-2011. Am i able to claim these charges back. Thanks

The executor of the estate is allowed to make a complaint. However, there are greater limitations with the complaint compared to someone alive. For example, they cannot make allegations about what may or may not have been said in the meetings your dad had with the bank.
There is nothing wrong with having a packaged bank account. This is not a product failure. There has to be a wrongdoing that you are complaining about. Your dad may have wanted it. So, what would be the complaint reasons?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. My Dad didn't have a will, so I acted as executor and dealt with his estate at the time. I see where you are coming from, and Dad may indeed of wanted this type of account. I guess this would make it impossible to say he was somehow hoodwinked into having it. So for me to complain that it was 'mis-sold' would be pointless?.0

There would have to be a factual failing. e.g. the benefits of the package not being suitable for him. Most packaged bank accounts have bits that are not usable by people. That is not an issue. The main thing is how much, if any of it, was of benefit.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Thanks you for your help. It seems that I wouldn't get anywhere with it, as I don't have enough information to pursue it vigorously enough.0
