Car seat on plane?

Hi all,

We will be taking a 1hr 50 flight soon with a 2 year old. Do I need to take a car seat for him? He has a maxi cosi pearl and I keep looking st it thinking there's no way that will fit in the seat!

Additionally we will be arriving into Paris and travelling, are they required on coach transfers etc to have a car seat?

Also when you have a pushchair and you want to take it can you hand it over in its current state or does it need to go in a cover bag?

I know these may seem like silly questions but I've never travelled with a child before, Google seems to throw different answers out so I wondered if anyone could advise?

The help pages of your airline's website usually have details in the FAQs.

Who are you flying with? Different airlines have different rules.
As a general rule you check the car seat as although there are a few brands you can use on-board there aren't many. Some airlines will check it for free (ryanair, easyjet) but some charge if it isn't in your suitcase. If you decide not to take one then you would need to hire/buy one at your destination based on the local law.

Are you going to need a car seat when you get to Paris for a hire car? They're not needed on coach transfers if that the only travelling you will be doing.

Generally you don't take car seats in to the cabin, there are only certain ones that are airline safe. If you need it the other end you wrap it up and it get checked in with your luggage.

You can keep your pushchair with you until you board the flight, they will take it off you at the gate and put it in the hold.
