  • Its time to get organised! :naughty:

I have formulated a little strategy to aid my money saving and avoid money disappearing!

    This is my debt-free schedule:

    Everyday
    • Daily clicks
    • Piggy comps
    • Check emails for invites to do surveys / research
    • Write down EVERYTHING spent
    • Check purse at end of day for £2.00 coins and 20p and under coins
    • Go on MSE forum for support / ideas / update diary as necessary
    Weekly
    • Add up weekly spends and post in diary
    • Evaluate spending carefully in order to identify any naughty spends that must be kept in check the following week
    • Take time to write some reviews for pigsback / test and vote to get more points
    • See how much money has been spent out of my £10 as part of the Unecessary Challenge
    Monthly
    • Add up monthly spend and post in diary.
    • Add up monthly additional income as part of my 'make additional £100 a month' challenge.
    • Carefully compare monthly spends, wages and additional earnings to see if the month has been overall good or bad.
    • Check cupboard / bedroom for any other items to sell on ebay.
    • Identify any areas where I have gone wrong and make a pledge for next month e.g. 'must reduce make-up spends by £10'.

    Constantly

:j Be postive, believe I can do it, enjoy the journey of money saving! :j

thanks duchy for yor encouragement - was feeling bad about myself after reading SOA, made me see what a prat I have been.

Thanks for making me feel better, maybe I'm not a total loser after all!

Course you're not a loser. Look around at uni at the people spending their loans like it's free money cos they haven't had a lightbulb moment yet and thank your lucky stars that you now know better :)
Better to learn the lesson now rather than when you have a mortgage and a couple of kids. I went to uni as a mature student (Kingston and Roehampton so expensive) and it was scary how much debt the younger students were racking up.

  • I went to Kingston - train fares crippled me! When I started my station wasn't in the zone system so my fares were unbelievable! And I had to travel at peak time, adding more expense

  • Had a good day today.

Listed stuff on both amazon and ebay, as well as earning i-points and test and vote points.

Cancelled my ebay subscription, saving £6.00 a month or £72.00 a year!!

Have found a mobile contract I like, just have to start sorting it out - it sounds complicated, all this stuff about PAC numbers etc...
    However, by doing this I'll save £50.00 a month, or a whopping £600 a year! :T

Have also remembered another payout that I didn't put on my SOA. Last summer I ebayed as a full time job, so got weekly bank statements as I had loads of cheques to track. Have never bothered cancel this although it is £1.50 a month. Will cancel tomorrow, savings of £18 a year.

Just through these 3 simple things I'm gonna save £690 a year!! :j

Totally amazing, when I really get stuck into the rest of my budget I really hope to save loads!

In addition, I'm gonna make these savings work for me. Am gonna phone bank tomorrow to arrange to open a cash isa. Am gonna try and put some money in every month in the hope of saving enough to clear the bank loans.

Good days work, am tired now, night everyone, hope the rest of the week brings more money saving!

Brilliant saving on the mobile Chloe. They just make the PAC number thing sound more complicated than it is to discourage you switching user.
Yes Kingston was expensive and I can honestly say the food at Penryn Road was some of the most foul I've ever tasted-moving to Roehampton for my second year was a revelation. Nicer surroundings-better facilities, better treatment of students (although the train fares and parking were just as bad :) )

  • I so agree about Penrhyn Road food! And ridiculously expensive for students. I once queued and bought a main meal (meat, veg, potatoes) and cup of tea. Got to till, charged me £8.20!! I nearly fainted, would have left it if I hadn't had an assessment in 30 minutes and hadn't been starving hungry  !

Ordered mobile today, £35 a month which included free calls on sat, sun and mon! :j

Total savings approx. £55 a month!!!

In addition, did through Quidco which offers £35 cashback!!

Does anyone know, I am not really bothered about having a new phone, can I put my new contract sim card in my old phone and sell the brand new one on ebay (I really am getting addicted to all this money saving! :rotfl: )

Only one tiny worry, I read somewhere that if you have lots of debt the banmk might refuse the direct debit. If they do, will ring them immediatley, they can see from my record the fortune I am gonna save!

Have also cancelled bank statement charge as mentioned yesterday, good savings today!!

    Plus a NSD!

I think you'll be OK as it's usually not so much debt as if you default-which you haven't.
