Go whale watching, the Royal Delfin does trips where you can go and see whales and dolphins then it anchors in a very secluded bay where you can go swimming and have lunch.
I travelled from the north of the island to do that down in Puerto Colon so I suspect you could easily get from the south of the island up to the north to climb up Mount teide, its absolutely beautiful and will have snow on it that time of year.0 -
Tenerife South - great for families - any idea where you are going to be staying? I have a 1 bed apartment on the Golf Del Sur there are plenty of theme/aqua parks...etc and getting around is easy on the bus. You could have a look at my web site as that has some local info on it you might find interesting.
I don't know if I can put a link on this thread - maybe someone could advise? or just email & I will send it to you.0 -
I have not booked the flighst but getting them at £100 pp in first week of Jan and its veerrryy tempting!
Which resort is the best for families in the South Tenerife which is near shops, restaurants and the beach!
NC1967 either post your link or PM me, thanks.0 -
If you want to be in the hub, the Mare Nostrum Resort is a good bet - a complex of five hotels, right on the beach and opposite the best selection of shops and restaurants in the south.
Don't forget to take your family to Las Aguilas Jungle Park in the hills above Los Cristianos. Worth a half day visit. Also a whale and dolphin watching excursion - but make sure everybody takes sea-sick pills, it'll make the difference between an enjoyable trip and a journey of endurance.Joe Cawley

thanks i am very tempted to book the flights soon. What is a good resort not too far from the airport but good for families near shops, restaurants etc but noisy from clubs and bars?
I checked the weather online and it says the daytime temp is about 20C but a friend told me the seas are rough and cold on the beach - is this true?
thanks0 -
My parents have an apartment in Los Cristianos. Its a fairly quiet town with some nice bars and restaurants but right next to it is the much more lively Playa de las Americas.
The weather forecast looks about right for that time of year. I can't say I've ever seen the sea 'rough' but I guess it may be a little cold in January.
The town is only about 15-20 minutes from the airport - about 15-20 Euro in a taxi. This space has been intentionally left blank0
