Quick direct debit for co op reward.

Hi ,
ive got a co op account with 4 active DD . Ive used my card and done everything required except the DD.One DD is my halifax credit card but i misjudged the payment dates. the payment is due october not september. Im looking for a quick direct debit to set up to cover me for this month. Maybe £1-£2.

Ive looked through the forum threads for ideas but i cant see one i can set up straightaway.
I thought about charity donation but only for this month. I dont want to cost the charity money in processing costs.

Any ideas?

    Try a trial magazine subscription.

Usually several around for £1 for a few issues, just cancel before second payment

Use a cash back site like quidco and you might even make money on the deal.

http://www.quidco.com/greatmagazines-co-uk/ will at least get you your £1 back for a £1 subscription.

When in October? If very early, ie it's normally/sometimes at the end of the month you're going to have this problem again in the future.

Suggest you shift the statement date either back or forward a few days to make sure the payment due date is at least 6 days before/after month end.

I think you'll be borderline getting anything set up to take this month anyway, due to the 10-working day rule...there are actually only 10-working days left.

no such thing as a 'quick' DD - they take time to set up.

If the billing date for the Halifax card is not due until October, surely a payment has already been taken in September ?

If this is a new setup, the loss will only be £4 plus up to £1.50 on the card usage. (I lost our first reward as a bank clerk mis-informed me that the existing water rates DD would suffice, but it didn't as it was paid over 10 months; easily fixed, though).
  • Paypal purchases funded from a bank account show on my Santander statement as a direct debit.

If you already have paypal the new funding source can be added in a few days.
  • You could set up a Tesco savings account and link your Coop current account to it. Then set up a regular savings amount of £1-£2 which is operated through the Tesco account, and is taken as a direct debit from your Coop account.

I used my credit card mid august and on my statement online it says due 3rd october when i thought it would have been due 3rd september.

I think im going to leave this months and be more aware of cut off points for next time.

You've already got one of their savings accounts and using it for one of the Co-op DDs?

If so, problem solved...just set up another DD with a different nickname for the same Co-op account.

You'd need to be very quick though...there's a very slim chance you could still get it to pull this month.

Shows as DD for me too, and they send you a free 1p to set up the link :money:
