Insurance for additional car and NCB discount

Hi - I have a toyota auris for last 4 years and have built up 4 years NCB on this car. I am the main driver but my wife is owner/register keeper and also a named driver on the policy.

Now we are buying another car where I will be main driver and my wife will be main driver on older car. I wanted to check:

- Can I use my 4 year NCB discount on auris for the new car and use it for renewal next year as 5 year NCB discount? If it comes to choosing keeping the discount only on 1 car then I would go for new car as its costing more and I am assuming premium will also be higher
- My wife was a named driver for 4 years, when I make her the main driver on toyota can she get a NCB discount for 4 years and also use it to renew next year?

My old car is on aviva, so I will try first with them to do all these changes and also try for a multi-car discount

You can only use the NCD on one car, but Aviva gave me a good deal when I got a second car which effectively came gave me full NCD.

I think Aviva are in the minority where the NCB is 'owned' by the main driver and not the policyholder. It would naturally go to the car where you are the main driver.

Hopefully they would offer a decent NCB or at least an introductory discount for her.

Thanks all for the help, as suggested by forum experts -- finally spoke to aviva, they moved my 4 year NCB to the new car and also gave my wife a introductory discount equivalent to the 4 year NCB which turns out much cheaper and hassle free than going for different insurers. Well done aviva!
