Car mats in old car

Just wondered if it's worth having carpet mats in an old car or is it just another thing to clean?

Depends obviously on how much traffic you expect on your carpets, and different cars have different size piles for carpet. I had a c-max which had a really long pile so whenever i wet vac'd it it would strip some of the pile away. I have a mazda 5 now and the pile is really tight and can be scrubbed without affecting the pile at all so i dont bother with mats

The tailored ones for the shape of the interior of your car are better.

Or if your handy at carpet fitting i know plenty of people (taxi drivers included) that buy offcuts of hard wearing carpet from carpet shops and then cut it to the floor space of their vehicle meaning the carpets are never touched
Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

The nice thing about mats is that you can take them out to clean them.

But, in practice, some dirt always gets round the sides. So you still end up cleaning the inside of the car to some extent.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
