York; Staying outside bus into City Centre

Staying in a hotel in the centre of York is expensive. We were thinking of staying outside in our of the suburbs or towns where hotels are likely to be cheaper. we are hoping to find somewhere that has a regular bus service into the city centre about 30 minutes journey away. Does anyone know the area and can make some suggestions please.

Barter

When we stayed in York some years ago we got a very good deal at the Travelodge which was very central. We left the car out in the suburbs and took a bus back in. Suited us better that way round!

Fulford Road has lots of guesthouses. Regular buses to the centre as its on a Park and Ride route.
