Car insurance for EU registered car

I have to be in the UK for about a year in connection with a study and would like to use my car, registered in Europe, here. According to the DVLA I am allowed to use the car here for as long as I am doing the study on a temporary basis. It will not be cost-effective for me to re-register the car in the UK for a year. I will need local insurance. I am a mature post-grad student. Does anybody perhaps know which company may be willing to insure a car without UK nr plates for a year?

Can't you insure it in your home country? (Telling them of course that it will be in UK)?0
