Canon Lide 120 Scanner Error

I'm desperate!

I've spent about 4 hours this morning trying to get my (newish) scanner to work.

I have previously used this scanner when I first bought it , but now I have some really vital documents to scan it's all gone wrong - nothing will scan.

Things I've tried:
Uninstalled and then reinstalled driver from disc, no joy so did the same from Canon website

After trying both the above, switching off and on again I then got the message "Driver for Canon Quick Menu not installed" each time.

Back to the website and downloaded Quick Menu driver.

I'm now getting message "Cannot write or read file. Code 2, 252, 12".

I'm using Windows 7.

Please, please can somebody help - it's absolutely vital that I get these documents scanned this weekend. Thanks!

When I had a recent problem with my Canon scanner, and nothing I did to it worked (including downloading the drivers from the website) I phoned their technical support. The person I spoke to was great. He sent me an email with instructions which, I think included to uninstall the scanner, also had a link to the drivers.

Yes, now I think about it more, have to uninstall the scanner first and then do a new install.

Sorry, I see that you have done that so my information was useless. :(

I think I'll try to get onto Canon Support now, just in case nobody here is able to help today, as I see they are only open until 4 today and no Sunday CS.

Well, I've tried Canon, and although very helpful., they say the error message I'm getting is something to do with Adobe and say I need to get it resolved by Microsoft.

Anybody any ideas on this problem - please???

Not sure about win 7 but in later versions .
Check your scanner is set as the default not PDF in settings .
Personally i would start by uninstalling Adobe whatever it is .

Thank you - I've just come off the phone again to Canon (after trying MS who didn't want to know) and at least they have given me an "emergency" way of scanning my papers through "Windows Fax & Scan" for the time being (didn't know there was such a thing!). They went through all the settings, so I think they are all OK.

They will get back to me on Monday with, hopefully, a proper solution, but it didn't sound to me that this second techie thought it was an Adobe problem. Her thoughts seemed to be more related to the driver for the scanner itself, especially as I had to download and install Quick Menu afterwards individually after I'd already downloaded the main driver, and it appears that QM's not working anyway.

I'll leave things as they are for the time being and go the "long way round" until Monday.

Update to follow - a stiff drink is now required after struggling with this since 7 o'clock this morning!
