Kits come with new handles (so you know they match the valve) and normally some adaptor pieces to fit various taps.

And is it possible to convert a compression washer tap to a ceramic tap - using one of these kits ?

Another vote for Bristan, worth paying that bit extra for.
  • Buying cheap is a false economy, imho :p

I bought a tap reviver kit and found that the inside of the cold tap had corrided so badly - that the valve could not even be removed - so returned the kit.

Screwfix no longer stock any Bristan cross head basin taps (I checked on-line locally as well - no good) - so I ended up with Swirl @ £24
I was willing to spend more - but nothing was available to match our existing bath mixer except for Swirl.
