DRL are a requirement on all new cars and all cars with a major facelift but an existing car designed before the 2011 date that is still in production doesn't have to have them. They will be on all new cars of any kind as soon as the last few models from before 2011 get updated or replaced

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

There is a system - its called eyes and a brain - unfortunately in many drivers the connection is dodgy.

It also doesn't help that with DRLs the dash often lights up.

some cars the instrument lights are on all the time the key is on, makes it easier to forget if you ask me!

I quite often drive in those conditions in sunglasses, as my eyes are very sensitive to light and it can be almost painful without them based on the amount of ambient light reflected off fog and shiny wet roads.

You know fog and rain don't necessarily make it dark, right?

Doesn't make me a moron. I use my lights as well, BTW.
About to say the same thing. I find it much easier to see with sunglasses on in fog, probably due to the polarising filter.
