Hi I need some help understanding my pip claim ! I originally was on dla lower care up till I was diagnosed with cancer in october last year , the mamillan nurses got me to apply for pip in may and put my forms in after which I had my home visit in august! Today I was awarded enhanced care and enhanced mobility but to add to my confusion it says my award will start on 12th October ? Firstly why is it October when my claim was may and secondly will it be back paid as there is no mention of this in the letter I tried to speak to them but it was always busy after an hour !!! Thanks in advance for any help gratefully appreciated

As I understand it an award for PIP following a DLA claim would start after your current months DLA ends, I don't think it will be back dated.0

Are you sure it says October this year, not last year when you first made the claim?Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

Yeah sorry diagnosis was last October but I only made claim in may0

It don't make sense to me if I made the claim in may and it took them till now surely I should less the lower care dla award ! Sorry I'm really confused by all this as mcmillan money matters told me it would be but I can't get hold of them or pip to see what's true and what's not because if I had made a new claim and say I wasn't already on dla it would be backdated but because I was on low rate care when I made claim I'm not entitled to anything till October 😡0

It's not fair. If you're already on DLA it doesn't get backdated but if you're not it does.0

digressing - but if you have ur elec with NPOwer, they have a scheme with McMillian, fixed price for 2 yrs.
I dont know if they partner up with any other supplier.
Re DLA / Pip - just a thought - the way I read it, you were on DLA, then cancer - now claimed PIP. It could be that you need to have the condition for 6 mths b4 any payment etc is made xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
