best time for lease car quotes...

I lease a car through work and am coming towards the end of the lease period, so am in the process of picking another car.

I want to save a bit of money so am looking at cheaper cars, which when comparing quotes with colleagues it's suprising what cars can work out cheaper!! A colleague with the same mileage as me pays under £150 (for car, insurance, ⎌fuel, everything) for a Mercedes a180, so I put a quote in recently for the same model and it came out at nearly £100 more than my colleagues quote. I asked the quote team why, and they just said they use a live quote system, so quotes change day to day and they pick the best quote on the day.

I'm just wondering if there is a good time of year that a quote may be cheaper due to quiet time of year for cars, e.g. Xmas??

Also open to suggestion for other cheap nice cars! I wouldn't have dreamt of getting a quote for a Mercedes as I wouldn't have thought the price could be so low.

Thanks :)

New prices for leased cars tend to be released in the first week of Jan, Apr, Jul and Oct (i.e. every quarter). You also tend to get good deals on stock cars around new reg periods.

As for your friend, I suspect they're not giving you the full picture.

I lease a brand new Ferrari for £150 per month (includes insurance, VED, fuel etc.) but I also paid a £40,000 initial rental. See what I did there. ;)

  • It's true, I've seen the paperwork! We work for the council and don't pay anything up front, that's not how the lease scheme works. Another colleage leases one for £116 but doesn't have as much mileage as me.

I thought it'd be the opposite and prices would go up when new regs released as people will be waiting to get one? Hence my higher quote.
