Car Untaxed After Moving House
Options
We moved house last month I sent off my V5 to the DVLA with section 6 filled out including leaving the 'New Keeper?' box unticked.
When I got the new V5 I thought it was a bit strange the 'acquired vehicle on' date was the date I moved house and not the original purchase date but figured it was just because we 'acquired' the vehicle at that address on that date.
Now I have just had a cheque through from DVLA for the car tax refund and I've checked and my vehicle has now been officially 'untaxed' since our moving date.
Is this normal procedure, that you have to buy new tax when you move house even if all that is changing is your address, with the same individual as the registered keeper? Or have DVLA messed something up?

In a word NO.
Check the number of previous owners and details of the last owner.
It sounds like the DVLA have once again made a mistake.
Check the details and write to DVLA to fix it.0 -
Thought so! Previous owner is myself at the previous address. I cant remember what the number of previous owners was on the old V5 so not sure if that's right.0

How did you change address? Did you select change of address as they seem to have changed keeper.
Just tax it now and move on0 -

Why tax it now & move on when (a) that means paying double tax for last month and (b) if everyone does that they have no incentive at all to get their systems in order?0 -
I think it depends on how much aggravation OP wants to endure. Arcon5's advice is the path of least resistance (provided that there's no risk of the OP being subject to an "untaxed vehicle" charge).0
