Ruddy smell in the hallway.

We got a new DPC done last Jan when we moved in. 20 months later there is an awful smell in the hallway.
Have taken up laminate, and lifted a couple of the original floorboards. Can't see any mould, but it's clear the smell is coming from there.
Somewhere.
Have arranged from the DOC company to come back out under the guarantee, but any suggestions as to what it could be?

Does it smell like mould? You could lift more boards and investigate further. And beneath your floor is it earth?0

Honestly, I wouldn't be able to guess what mould smells like. It smells musty. It's earth underneath. Having lifted a few floorboards in different spots now, still can't see mould. But have found some soggy and rotten papers and cardboard in the dirt! Lovely!0

We had an old house that was built up from earth, it was damp earth too (didn't affect the building or cause problems) I would imagine it could smell. If you can see it is damp maybe there is a small leak somewhere? Our neighbours main burst underneath their house and it flooded our underfloor too but it drained away when it was fixed because it was straight to earth (and advantage!)
I know it sounds grim, but someone needs to get under and have a look around.0 -

Thanks for the suggestions. This weekend will be mainly spent underneath floorboards...!0
