Private Eye in Scotland

I have received a 'charge notice' for being 18mins over time in Aldi. I know advice is to ignore, but I'm the only one in household who drives (on a side note why can DVLA give out details to a private firm!) and as we hope to apply for a mortgage next year could my ignoring of the 'charge' cause problems?

    Private Eye in Scotland

As far as a know, the Scottish edition of Private Eye is the same as the one published in England, and contains the same collection of satirical articles, cartoons, and stories exposing greed and corruption.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Yes the advice is to ignore in Scotland.
How on earth do you think Parking Eye can find out who was driving unless you tell them?
The DVLA can only tell a person or organisation deemed to have reasonable cause who is the keeper of the vehicle, nothing else, and they don't have a crystal ball to see who, of all the millions of people that could have driven it was!

You ignore anything that comes through your post box from ParkingEye and the inevitable chain of debt collector letters that will follow. You making contact with any of the above will place you in a worse position than now.

PE don't know of your household situation, so can draw no inference, unless of course, you tell them - hence the advice - no contact with any of them. DVLA can't tell them anything about that either. They've provided your name and address, their job is done, they won't be further involved.

The DVLA can legally provide your information to a PPC. You don't like it, we don't like it, but it's legal. It's been done to death on here for years, gums bumped until bleeding, but the fact remains. If you feel strongly, contact your MSP or MP and complain. It's they who make the law.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Bargepole sums up Parking Eye in scotland :)

In scotland they need to find out who the driver was and you are not going to tell them are you.

As they belong to the BPA, they can access the DVLA for keeper details, that's it they cannot get any more info.

For your peace of mind, go to Aldi with receipts and demand the scammers ticket is cancelled.

Parking companies in Scotland very rarely try court because they don't know who the driver was.

Rest easy, you will probably get reminders even rubbish debt collectors letters which you ignore.

You probably know about Theresa May down south prompting an investigation into companies like Parking Eye.

Nicola Sturgeon is where you complain to especially if they harass you.

Infact, let it be known to all your friends about the scam and get them to write to Nicola.

I believe the Scottish Herald takes a very dim view of these scammers.

Sorry, whilst I was typing Fisher and Umk were doing the same.

There you have it, four of us saying the same and no doubt others will add to this thread

We would like to see huge media exposure in Scotland about parking companies and what to do about them

The only problem I can see that all the junk mail they sent out might block your sewers

PS: You can easily change your header to Parking Eye by going to >> edit and then >>> advance edit
