OT is an emergency tax code - you will be entitled to a rebate once your proper tax code is sorted - you can get further information here:

The tax code 0T is the code an employer is required to use if you do not hand in a P45 and decline to make a new starter declaration. The new starter declaration asks you to choose one of the following and if you select A or B your new employer can use the emergency tax code (currently 1100L) until a P45 is given to them or HMRC issue a code to them....

"A This is my first job since last 6 April and I have not been receiving taxable Jobseeker’s
Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, taxable Incapacity Benefit,
    State or Occupational Pension.
B This is now my only job but since last 6 April I have had another job, or received taxable
Jobseeker’s Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance or taxable Incapacity Benefit.
I do not receive a State or Occupational Pension.
C As well as my new job, I have another job or receive a State or Occupational Pension.

So to start with do you have a P45 and did you hand it to your new employer?
If no P45 were you asked to make a new starter declaration and if so did you select A, B or C?
  • I wasn't asked to to fill any form out so bit confusing
  • Hi do you no when and how I'll get it back please
  • Call HMRC.

In the first instance do you have a P45 or expect one shortly?

If you have a P45 give it to your employer, if not ask if you can complete a new starter declaration to enable them to use the emergency tax if you can declare A or B (please note 0T is not an emergency tax code the current emergency tax code is 1100L).

If your employer is not prepared to do this then you will have to wait for HMRC to issue tax code, pay and tax details to your employer. This may be speeded up if you contact HMRC about it.

They are unlikely to actually give you the money back, unless your future pay will be under the personal allowance amount.

More likely , you'll get some pay with no tax deducted, then one amount with a reduced deduction until your deductions are at the correct level.
