Credit Card Eligibility Calculator - Inconsistent Results

Hi All,

I've used MSE's eligibility calculator to see how likely I am to be accepted for the Aqua Reward credit card (I have a poor credit score, apparently). The thing is, under the 'Travel Money' tab, I'm told my chance of being accepted is 30%. However, if I click on the 'Bad Credit' tab, I'm told my chance of being accepted for the same card is 95%. Anyone know what's going on here?

Many thanks

  • They are usually different types of cards under the same issuer

The first picture is from the 'Travel Money' tab; second picture is from the 'Bad Credit' tab. Are these not all referring to the same card? I can't see any difference.

I checked the aqua website and I can only see one Aqua Reward card.

I've had this, with 0 and 90% shown for that same card.

I said so on another thread the other day, though I didn't specify the card, and an MSE staff member didn't seem to believe me, producing a speculative answer that perhaps I'd entered different numbers on two separate sessions. No, same one, a few seconds apart.

I think they are unlikely to fix it while they refuse to believe it and won't check.

I already have the card though, so I'd suggest the higher rating is likely to be the more accurate one.

According to the checker I can't get any cards, but I've been accepted by Nationwide, Natwest and Creation doesn't work at all for me.
  • Yes, according to the checker I wasn't eligible for the Lloyds card I was approved for! I do think its hit and miss, but is supposed to be a guide, not a tell all.

It was right about MBNA though, they definitely said no!
  • This happens to me when I check mine.

Click on one of the tabs (purchase, rewards etc.) and it shows 80% chance. Click a different tab and they all change to 90%. Click back, they all show as 80%...

Definitely a bug, if MSE want to investigate, I can provide screenshots.

Why are there different eligibility checkers under different tabs. Why not just one single eligibility checker?

The tabs allow people to look at different types of cards, e.g. Rewards cards, Overseas Cards or Bad credit cards.

It's under one eligibility check, but the check does seem to be broken as going form one card type to another, changes the %.
