Best to let leak dry itself, or use heater?

have added 3 pictures but wont keep links long as paranoid LL will see thread and accuse me of stirring.
Cant see the problem with the Landlord seeing the pictures. Perhaps if he sees them he will appreciate the seriousness and urgency of the problem.
What can you see behind the collapsed ceiling? Floor joists of flat above or another damp ceiling? Any other clues on the source of the leak?0 -
It looks like another ceiling0

Another update, was speaking to the previous tenants of the upstairs flat and they were saying to me that when they lived there, a uncapped pipe was present and the overflow kept jamming.0

I love how this thread really demonstrates the truth of what the early commentators were saying. It's all well and good trying to dry out the leak, but if you don't manage to stop it then it's just wasted effort!
dekaspace, if your landlord isn't doing anything about it, and they also haven't supplied you with legal requirements like evidence of gas safety checks, and you're concerned about their reaction if they saw this thread, you want to start checking things like the status of your deposit and where it was protected (if it was). It sounds a lot like you might be living in a slumlord's house rather than a landlord's. The best thing you can do for yourself is start getting ready to move.Mortgage

dekaspace the bathroom looks to be in urgent need of repair. The mould is very bad for you if you're having to breathe it in.
Regarding the links, it is possible to see all of your photos, so you might want to just link to the relevant ones? (or remove the links, as you said)0 -
Thats it as of now, did manage to get into the upstairs property as tenant let me and we switched the valves off and the leak seems to have stopped (which also supports the leak is coming from their flat if we didn't already know)
My landlord has gone back to being a bit useless, just saying now the valves are closed its ok to leave it all weekend (the tenant upstairs has gone away till next week so if it happens now I am screwed)0 -

Is that upstairs joists you can see in the pic?
Surely you must be able to see where it is coming from now, no?0 -

Problem is the floor is covered in chunks of ceiling with rusty nails on them and I struggle to get access to see it.
I have been advised by enviormental health to call the fire brigade.0
