Samsung LCD TV broken after just 2 years...

Is it reasonable that the backlight on my Samsung 32" LCD TV has broken just 2 years after buying it?
Apparently it's cheaper to buy a new one that get it repaired!
Any thoughts? I contacted Samsung support and they said it's beyond the 1-year warranty period and I'd need to pay for repair at a service center...

I can't remember how I paid for it - online I'd guess, but can't find the email confirmation...
Costed about £300 I think0 -
The manufacturer owes you nothing beyond that offered in the warranty/guarantee terms.I can't remember how I paid for it - online I'd guess, but can't find the email confirmation...
Your statutory rights lie with the seller.
You need to find out who sold the thing to you and find some proof of purchase to stand any chance of getting the seller to do anything.
Even then, the seller can insist that you prove the problem is due to an inherent fault, but wait until the seller asks for that evidence.
You have up to six years to seek a remedy from the seller.
How did you pay - by credit card I hope?
If you can't even find out who the seller is then your options are to either throw it away or pay for the repair yourself.0
