I am about to start a small business and will need Public Liability Insurance - is there a "Go Compare" type of site for this type of insurance where I can view all options etc?

Money Supermarket have a section for public liability insurance as I try them every year to make sure my renewal is a good price. To be honest though they never beat my broker Ashburnham.
Been with them for 5+ years and they always find a better price and cover than MS. Maybe try a Google search for someone who specialises in your trade, like "public liability insurance for a market trader" for instance.0 -
i use town and country for business insurance, never had any issue with them at all :-)0

You may find that membership of a trade organisation for your line of business offers specialist insurance for you.
Architects for instance can use RIBA

Direct line were the cheapest for me by a longshot .0

I'm with Hiscox and my Public Liability insurance annual premium is £46. That's with a cover amount of £1 million (£250 excess).0

Hiscox are certainly worth an ask. I pay around £100 per year but it also covers theft and fire and damage to my kit upto £10k0

I have used Simple Business which compares against several brokers:

Prices have seemed reasonable and I have also phoned them a couple of times to check things and they have seemed knowledgable and helpful.0 -
I found Direct line to be very good, easy to talk to and the cheapest. It cost me around £120 for 5mil PL insurance for a simple business from home policy that lets me trade at markets and things. It was about £60 for the 2mil one.0

You can get the same cover for a market trader / craft trader for about £50 a year from one of the market traders associations0 -
It is very good value I think, my insurance includes working with naked flames / blow torches, and working at heights above eaves level, its still under £90 and as other have said £2m cover. I have used moneysupermarket , mse and simply business in the past. The meercats got me this year.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0
