Is it worth contacting the property owner?

We had an offer accepted on a house we loved 4 weeks ago.

1 week ago they sellers pulled out as they couldnt find anything to buy and said they would put it back on the market in a year to see if the market has picked up by then and if a property becomes available.

I am wondering if it is worth me writing to the owners to say that if they do change their mind to contact us, or if it would be a waste of time?

  • Why don't you contact the EA and say you are willing to wait for them to find something if they would like to continue with the sale. Maybe give a generous ball park timescale. I'm in a similar situation and luckily my buyers have said they will wait and they're not really pressuring us. If they did start pressuring (even if I felt they would!) we would probably take ours off too. They could be in a good position if they did find something over the next couple of months.

Of course you would probably also continue to look.

  • It was only after walking up to the property we've had an offer accepted on, and introducing ourselves to the (very lovely and understanding) vendor, when we discovered we've both got solicitors who do not communicate with each other, were able to far more quickly share information pertaining to an easement issue and, 10 months on and still no closer to exchanging, are just about keeping one another sane. I recommend it!
