Barnet Council (London) Parking system mistake

Hi
I received an (I believe) incorrect traffic violation recently from Barnet Council in London. I appealed this notice and did not receive a response. I called up the parking team and they reassured me that my appeal had been received and was in the process of being looked at. However I then received a letter saying that I had not lodged an appeal and the ticket was now going up to the full price (as the 14 day offer period had expired). I called the team and they have told me that they are having problems with their system and have received many calls regarding this and I will receive another letter rectifying this.
I just want to make people aware of this so they do not pay the full fine (if they have appealed and receive a similar letter). Rather contact Barnet Council Parking team on 02083597446 and discuss it with them.

As we tend to major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there and post a new thread; here's your link:

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print.

PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets.

You might also like to read this article which contains links to a DIY robot to appeal council tickets. How effective it is has been questioned - take a look and make your own mind up.

Also read the blogs of 'Mr Mustard' who is located in or near Barnet and is a constant thorn in the side of the Council - you might want to try to contact him. He is very accomplished in dealing with Barnet Council tickets.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
