Closed accounts

Hi All,

Please can someone help me!! Are closed accounts classed as defaults? I have a closed account that shows i went into arrears, then settled then closed.

Im so worried about this being on my credit file.

If anyone can give me some advice i would be really grateful:).

  • Closed accounts aren't defaults. Defaults are defaults - you would have received notification of it.

Arrears are not good either, but not as bad as a default.
  • Hi ZX81,

Thank you so much for your reply, ive been looking online and there is some very confusing information, one website stated that closed accounts are looked at as defaulted.

If i was thinking of getting a mortgage would this be looked at in a bad light due to the passed arrears, even if its from 2012?

    Thank you again.
  • 4 years on, it won't be so bad, but you might not have a free choice of lenders.

Best to use a broker to help place the mortgage.
  • Thank you zx81, much appropriated
