All council's must (with only a couple of exceptions) - it's specified in council tax legislation.As mentioned on council tax, nearly all councils have a pay monthly scheme so they'll just pro rata it for when you move in and you'll pay it monthly.
CraigI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
thanks guys, just spoken to martin & co the lettings agents and they adv me were fine to have the electricity put onto a bill/credit meter style and i do this by ringing the relevant supplier (I will be checking to see who is good on MSE).
The council tax being monthly is good, we will opt for the ten payments and then use the two months 'holiday' to keep as a buffer in the joint account all our bills and rent etc comes out of in case we need anything for the house, new washer etc etc.0 -

You wont get 10 months payments this year.

At this time of year you'd have Oct to Jan to make payment on what remains of the 10 instalments. The OP can elect to pay over 12 instalments which would give (as a maximum) Oct to Mar 17.
