Damp in my 3 bed End Terrace

This time of year is a tricky time to be looking - we've had a warm summer so the air is holding a lot of moisture - and the overnight temperature has started to drop (condensation on car windscreens etc). That's ideal conditions for surface condensation which gets confused for damp.
Yes, we've been in our house for five years. It is old, we have no damp but do sometimes suffer with mould on an uninsulated outside wall in the bathroom. The air in the house feels damp at the moment and my bed sheets can feel a bit sticky when I get in at night, but it will be a passing thing.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Isn't that a bit of a sweeping statement?
I'm sure there are plenty of houses without damp courses.
Not really. I'm sure there are houses without, but I'd certainly expect to see a slate damp proof course in a Victorian terrace or later.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

If I could be cheeky and dip into this thread, I have a possible damp issue and could do with some help.
I live in a mid through terrace circa 1910, solid walls. In the main bedroom I have small line of bubbling/flaking paint (approx. 20 cm long) on the wall, right at the top against the ceiling. On the same wall, below that, there is a small patch of this bubbling paint (about 10cm x 10cm) half way down the wall. Had a look round outside and noticed the front gutter was dripping off the wrong end at that side of the house - got that sorted. The walls were completely re-plastered back to brick in 2012, and there's no other signs of any problem. Where the paint has flaked off, the plaster looks fine. We do have horrible stone effect cladding on the brick walls, but can't see any damage.
I'm hoping that the two are linked and the gutter problem was causing water to run inside the cladding and possibly ingress causing the peeling paint - or is that optimistic nonsense? Thanks0 -

More than likely the gutter issue. To misquote someone : The most obvious cause, is probably the cause.0 -
It's been said, a damp proofing company test for damp and find it; I would be surprised if they didn't. And an independent surveyor without something to sell would give better advice.0

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree.
The OP doesn't mention Victorian
We have 2 'holiday let' cottages and one 'buy to let' house, none of which have any form on DPC0
