Cat flea treatment suggestions please

Hi, my lovely cat (Bella) has been flea free for many years up until about a year ago. its been a bit of a nightmare since... OK not that bad but it hasn't been fun dealing with the damn fleas in the house.

My question relates to suggestions to getting rid of fleas on my cat as they seem to be resistant to the treatment she's been using for years (Frontline Spot On for Cats). What should I use instead (ie other brands) and do I need to visit the vet to get the 'prescribed' versions that I understand can only be purchased with a note from the vet? Just wondering if they are more effective. Any suggestions/advice appreciated.

Stay away from ANYTHING related to bob martins they are dangerous to animals.

I use advocate on mine and housemate uses stronghold both we get from the vet but they really do work well much better than anything you can get over the counter or in the supermarket/pet shop. You can either buy directly or pay for a prescription and order online

When I questioned the price of flea treatment at the vets and asked for a prescription to use online, the vet recommended Advantage as it is available without prescription. I got some from Amazon.

    So far no fleas!
  • Advantage for the cat and Indorex for the house, neither of which need the vet to prescribe.
You do also need to hoover every day to stimulate eggs to hatch and then be killed.

It seems that fleas have become resistant to Frontline in many areas. There are quite a lot of spot-on treatments around at the moment and some of them also treat worms, mites etc.

As has been said, please avoid anything from Bob Martin - google it if you want to know the ins and outs.

my neighbour has found this with her cats after getting fleas a couple of occasions despite using frontline as instructed.

so far my cat has been fine but I use Stronghold from the vets, as well as covering for ear mites and heartworm
