No permit private car park

Hi, I've only just found this forum, probably too late now ! I got a ticket a few Months back on the windscreen of my work vehicle for not displaying a permit. I was working at one of the flats which the car park serves and within doing a job after 30 mins had a ticket. I ignored it after advice from work colleagues and friends and now it's at the stage of notice before court action from the debt recovery company they are using. I have looked and the company Parking Ticketing LTD seem to be registered and it looks as though I'll have to pay the £150 which they are now demanding. The debt company have give me until the 21/09/16 to pay or they will recommend they take court action against me. Is their anything I can do now or should I just pay it ? All the letters I have received have been passed on from my company I work for, the ticketing company & debt recovery do not have myself the drivers details.

Sorry if this has been covered a million times but did read the sticky threads but seem mainly for parking in a retail situation which this was not.

No debt crawler can issue an official Letter Before Court Action in this context, don't let hysteria get in the way of reality! :)

    Here's the magic word:
or they will recommend they take court action against me

Here's PTL's record of all court appearance :

    http://www.bmpa.eu/companydata/Parking_Ticketing.html

Fewer than 1% of tickets issued in almost 3 years - and these are all court cases, not necessarily linked to parking issues.

Why do you think you have to pay?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • My company haven't given my name at all so they don't know who the driver was and no documents at all have been sent to my home address. Thanks for the responses, seems I'll carry on ignoring them for now!

Thank goodness you stopped taking the debt collector letters seriously. Come back here though if the company gets a Letter of Claim, solicitor's letter or claim form.

Are they concerned about this and might they be stupid and pay it if they get more letters? If so, they should name you as the LESSEE/HIRER and give your name and address, which removes them forever from the equation. NOT naming the driver (they cannot know, the company wasn't there).

If this is your own business then no need to name the lessee/hirer of the car.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
