Nissan Micra 2011 gear knob replacement

So when I took my Nissan Micra 61 plate in for service I asked the mechanic to look at my gear knob which was twisting slightly. When car came back gear knob was twisting through 360 degrees and advised needed new gear knob.

Mechanic ordered me a new genuine nissan one which duly arrived only for him to tell me that it doesn't fit as the original one has some kind of white plastic adapter in it, which he says he cant buy seperately. He is now telling me I need a new gear lever costing £220 if I want a genuine one.

Surely there must be somewhere I can get an adapter for the replacement gear knob. Looking online all the generic ones seem to come with adapter kits. Anyone know where I could get an adapter/reducer and what size I would need? Could I just buy one of the cheap gear knobs and use their adapters with the new Nissan one?

Alternatively I thought of getting a second hand gear lever. Have seen a cheap one for a 2013 Nissan Micra, anyone know if it would fit. It looks different but understand both are K13 models so was hoping it might.
