Hi all,
I'm a newbie, so hope I'm not flouting any rules!
I'm buying a used Skoda Fabia, 2009, automatic, from a Skoda dealer and it comes with a Skoda 3 month warranty. It's run 52k miles, and has had a service just recently in May, and they'll do an MOT before they give it to me.
So, the dealer is offering me 12 months warranty if I pay a further £200.
Since it's my first car, I thought I'll get some opinion on whether it's worth it.
Thanks so much!

Put the £200 in a savings account for when you need it. They are not worth the paper they are printed in- remember the sales person has commision out of this.0

Thank you, to clarify, Skoda provide the 3 month warranty and from what I understand, the dealer also has a Suzuki dealership, so it's some sort of warranty under that. I'm not clear on it, so I will find out more tomorrow.0

If it's a genuine Skoda warranty - valid at any Skoda garage anywhere in the UK or Europe - go for it.
Otherwise forget it.0 -
It's actually a Car Care warranty - cost has now come down to £100 additionally, now that I've offered to collect the car from the dealership.
Any thoughts guys?0 -

That's not 100% correct. Some (and I mean a very few )warranties are actuality very good.
The only way to know if the warranty is any good is to look at the terms and conditions and read exactly what is and most importantly not covered.
TBH if it was me I would try to get the warranty thrown in as part of the sale. If they are charging you £100 it will be costing them nothing like that and if it gives you extra peace of mind??? why not??? also no harm as the other posts say keeping the £200 in case of emergency.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -

Ask the salesman to list what's not covered in the warranty. If he tries to list what is covered, or says he can't because he has an appointment in 3 hours, don't bother.0
