Halifax Switching Service

After a bit of advise (apologies for the long post!)
I switched from Cahoot to Halifax back in February using the switching service. All was going well and everything seemed to change over correctly until a few days later when I received a letter from my mortgage provider saying that they were unable to take payment as the DD had been cancelled. I made a payment using my card immediately and made sure that they had details for future DD. The following month I checked my credit score to find that I had been given a late payment default from my mortgage provider even though it was no more that a few days later than normal.
I contacted them to explain it was to do with switching bank accounts and they said to get Halifax to send a fax confirming this that it would be removed. Basically after a day back and forth on the phone, Halifax sent the fax and said it was Cahoot that cancelled the DD too early.
To cut a long story short, I still have the late payment on my credit file and really do not know who to contact? My mortgage provider basically say its not their problem, Halifax are saying it is Cahoot and I'm annoyed that all I did was try to switch accounts using a supposedly easy guaranteed switching service. I just want to get the late payment removed as I feel it not my fault.

Can you not raise the issue with the credit reference company direct? I don't know personally just throwing it in as a suggestion.
Have cahoot confirmed it was their initial mistake that has caused this? How serious of an impact has this had on your credit file though? What distress or inconvenience has it caused you since? eg declined credit, not able to get better rates on loan/mortgage etc?
If it is cahoot who are at fault I think you need to complain to them and then take it to the FOS if not happy.0 -
