Debt Recovery Plus pcn

Hello,

I haven't been on here in some time, I have a bit of a complicated story and was wondering if anyone could help me?

basically I have received a letter today saying that I owe £150 pcn to DRP it says the creditor was met parking services in Norwich in may, unfortunately at the time myself and my wife (at the time) were separating, I do not remember getting any of these letters, I had been living in my car at the time and was just managing to get myself into a flat, I do not remember the day as I had other things on my mind obviously and also I would not have any receipts to prove I was there etc. I have read the posts but they are a bit confusing some say pay others say don't. the letter itself says I have 14 days from the above date which was 6/9/2016 today being the 13/9 I have already lost a week is this fair? it says I stayed longer than I should have but gives no details, it also says they sent the letters to my wifes house, we do not get on too well at the moment, so don't always get letters, I went onto the DRP website to look under disputes and found this

Disputes

As per the British Parking Association's (BPA) Code of Practice, Point 22.7, the time to challenge the charge has now expired. The opportunity to raise your dispute with the Independent Appeals Service is also no longer available'

could someone please tell me what I should do. thankyou,

p.s. on top of this I have been suffering with a condition called psychogenic amnesia which is memory loss, and do not remember a lot of things, I have to see doctors and take meds etc. so when I say I do not remember getting any letters I mean literally, thank you all so much for any help

  • i understand that you must all get frustrated, but as i pointed out earlier, i am suffering from memory issues and find it hard to understand a lot of things including computers and conflicting advice, the link you gave me seems to send me to a post in 2014, i still dont understand it and earlier on this website i read to ignore these letters and now i am reading not too,

all i really want to know is should i ignore it or not. i am sorry i am not to clever with these things anymore, thank you for you patients

You IGNORE everything from a debt collector (including DRP, and Zenith who will follow - same outfit, different name, different desk). Only the PPC can take legal action against you, so come back if you get a Letter Before Claim/Action, or real court papers.

Debt collectors will tell you anything in order to part you from your cash. You definitely do not speak to DRP, they will run rings around you - just don't go there.

My signature says 'Do not ignore a parking charge notice' - this would be the first letter you received from MET - that could have been appealed and dispensed with by now, but far too late now.

You don't give any information about the parking incident (we don't need it now - too late), but complaints to the landholder/retailer/hospital/hotel (or whichever) can work and they can tell MET to cancel. If you don't try, you don't get.

MET Parking are not currently litigious.

Correct - don't talk to either DRP or MET (not about being 'too late' to talk to them, never phone a PPC), but talking to the retailer(s) initially might be better than sending a cold letter. See how it goes.
