Easyjet App

Hi, I would like a bit of advice, we just got back from family holiday in Barcelona, my husband and I and our 2 sons flying from NCL, my daughter from LGW, her flight due to get in at 50 minutes before us, I booked the transfers in advance for the 5 of us.
My daughter was using the easyjet app for her flight, it also counted down to the gate, when it showed her the gate she went to the gate arriving about 10 minutes later, she was then told by a member of Easyjet staff that the gate had closed and she had missed her flight, she rang me approx 4 minutes later very upset and not knowing what to do, she had been in the airport at least 3 hours before, she rang me at 16.39, according to flight stats the gate closed at 17.00 and the plane did not leave until 17.22, I had to check and see if there were other flights leaving LGW and instruct her to get another flight - does anyone know our legal rights?
Thanks
If you see in the Stansted Airport. There are enough people missing flight with budget airlines such as EasyJet, RyanAir on daiy basis. I myself have been missing the flightwith Ryan Air. What I did, I just booked the next flight and I had to pay GBP100 for rescheduling and I cosider it fair enough.
Keep in mind
- It is already stated that people will need to arrive at the gate 30 minutes at the latest and they have agreed.
- There is an option to buy insurance for missing the flight but the people do not want to pay for insurance.
-There is an option to buy the ticket for major airlines with flexible option of free rescheduling when they miss the flight, but people do not want to pay more.
-The budget airlines have been doing a great thing to make flying more affordable. They could do this with apply a very tight schedule of departure.
But people could always try when they want ...Just to say, my daughter has a sight problem and as her boarding card was on her phone, she was checking that to see the gate and the gate time, which it did display but too late to catch the flight - it was 29/08/ and it was the 16.50 flight
Correct me If I am wrong. I never see the gate displayed on my boarding pass. Only the flight number, seat and departure date and time. There are too Many display monitors available at the airport that almost impossible for people to miss it.0 -

When she booked or checked in, she could have requested assistance if she has a medical condition, that way somebody would have taken her to the gate in due time. I know it's akin to closing the stable door after the horse has bolted, but maybe a suggestion for her next flight.0 -
A few weeks ago my easyJet app told me that my flight was ready for boarding at the gate number, but I had already arrived at the other end and was on the bus home...Evolution, not revolution0

If its so unreliable feature then they really need to remove it from the app.
Im sure a good lawyer could win a case here.0 -

I don't think the app is the problem, I think the data connection is, especially if you're not signed in to free wifi. Mobile signal once you're inside the terminals at Gatwick can be practically non-existent, even the wifi is very patchy.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
There is also a delay in updating the app in another way. I was due to fly to Berlin and back during last week. I unfortunately had to cancel before departure date and I did this by email to Easyjet. however my app still sent me reminders to check in at the gate and about delays to the flight on Friday when i would have returned.A few weeks ago my easyJet app told me that my flight was ready for boarding at the gate number, but I had already arrived at the other end and was on the bus home...0 -
according to flight stats the gate closed at 17.00 and the plane did not leave until 17.22,
just for info to explain the flightstats data
17:00 was the time that the plane pushed back from the stand to head to the runway and 17:22 was the actual airborne time. The 10 minute delay may have been due to the fact that the flight paperwork would have needed to be reproduced once they had offloaded the passengers that failed to turn up at the gate on time. The fact that it took a further 22 mins to get airborne is not unusual (Heathrow can be even longer)
It is unfortunate she was relying on an app to show the gate. Knowing the gate closure time was 16:20 she should have asked for assistance if she could not see the screens in the airport0 -
Insurance for missed departures was not offered and as she has flown all over the world and never missed a flight, it was not thought about, shw was told by easyjet that the last flight was full, so she had to go back to departures adn book a flight with Vueling at a cost to her mamma of £230 - expensive lessonTitch

so did she rely on an app on her phone for all of these trips?
also im pretty sure even if she did have insurance it wouldnt cover this incident anyway as it was her failure which made her miss her flight.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
