Work are annoyed I'm off sick

That's odd as you posted today at 3:30pm on another thread that you suffer from cronic illness yet you can manage to get out of your bed to go to the gym 2 times a week.
Yep, when I'm not recovering from surgery like I wrote up there. I do work full time as do many people with chronic illnesses. You do know what I mean by a chronic condition right? 25% of adults in the USA have at least two chronic conditions, I imagine it's similar in the UK.
Thanks for the concern though!

off sick, organizing your own cover.
You already are going above and beyond what is required.
Not been there long so they are probably still distant so not going to get the how your doing calls unless it is for a return to work.0 -
Yet you manage to be online all day looking and posting on here.......and also going to the gym 2 times a week.
The above I sent you is still on post 9, you forgot to get that post removed too so I'll repeat it seeing as it proves you're more than capable of working from home and the truth clearly hurts. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
Well, of course they are annoyed. They don't care about your well being; they are not your friends. You being ill is a pain in the !!!! for them. It's annoying.
The reason we have (or had) employment law is to stop them acting on their annoyance; but no legislation can stop companies getting annoyed when people take long periods of sick leave. So far they haven't done anything wrong.0 -

Nope- look at my first post on this thread where I says I am recovering from surgery. Yes I posted on another thread saying I go to the gym twice a week - under normal circumstances.
I think you have too much time on your hands and are quite rude to boot. What do you gain from posting that? "The Truth clearly hurts...." Sounds like something from a bad American television drama series!
Have a good day, I hope yours gets better

You are right, there is no empathy in business. I wonder how they would feel if they became sick? It's a shame that as a society in general we can't be less money focused but such is the way of the world.
I've been a manager and yes, annoying when people off sick but there isn't much you can do about it. I was empathetic with them, said I hoped they felt better soon and then sorted out some cover. I've covered for colleagues off sick many times. Sure it's annoying but I don't moan to other colleagues about that person being off sick and I do feel sorry for the person off.
So yes, they can be annoyed with me and I know it's a pain for them. I get that. Business must have plans in place for enployees dying. Would that be treated as an annoyance too?
I guess for me, it's a contrast to what I'm used to. In a previous job, I had 6 weeks off with a fracture. I couldn't leave my house or shower, let alone work. I got full pay and they were very understanding. Now - they must have been annoyed of course - but they didn't show it!
Surgery, broken bones, bereavement, mental illness etc. Nobody choses to be sick or die to get off work.0 -
Surfing the net once in a while from a prone position using a tablet/smart phone is a completely different game from having to sit at a desk using a laptop or desktop all day while recovering from surgery. Even if you are at home while doing it. Give the OP a break. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Actually, we are much lower than the USA. Why? Because we still have something approximating an NHS. In the UK our statistics are based on three chronic conditions, not two. But it is actually about 4% ( just over). Not that I am siding with anyone else - I agree with you needing time to recover. My point is that our NHS, inadequate though it may be at times now, provides us with something the Americans don't have. Proper health care. Especially for the poor. If you run the same comparison within our demographic, the statistics rise for poor people, who have more chronic illness. But it still didn't get near the USA. Because a chronic illness may not be cured, but it can be treated for many people. And we treat people. In the USA they treat people who can afford it.0 -

Having a nosy online, 15.4 million people in the UK have at least one chronic condition and it's expected to increase. It's interesting to wonder what will happen with NHS cutbacks and people living longer. How are employers going to manage chronic conditions in people that work and an increasing elderly population working into their 70s to get their pension?0 -

Replies like this in threads on here are why this place has become so poor for advice (I'm a long time reader myself before I created an account). Far too many posters on here become hostile and negative too quickly and tend to focus on the bad points rather than actually being helpful.
How about giving the OP the benefit of the doubt and offering them some constructive advice instead of jumping all over them?0
