Now, they have used the shorter version of my name which I only use for certain comp sites from this year only, only thing is it's still a lot of sites so difficult to pin it to any in particular. However the only one that has always had me worried is Quizonaut as when you win they want to know everything about you before they send you that precious mouse mat. The company that they use, Giftcable, seems to have quite a low trust rating, I may be wrong but it's just a hunch.
I had the same text but haven't entered any quizonaut comps2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000 -
I had the same text but haven't entered any quizonaut comps
I just knew someone was going to say that :rotfl:
I wonder what the source is? Not that I really care as I get texts and emails like this all the time, but it just seems odd that a load of MSEers have got a text proclaiming to be from HSBC at the same time.0 -
I have had two texts today too!!0

My daughter also had the HSBC text (She does bank with them, but they don't have her mobile number.) Fortunately she knew it was a phishing one.
She does, however, enter a few comps on here that only require an email entry (Only adds her mobile number is it has to be included for the form to submit,) as she was living abroad.
Might narrow it down a bit?Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -
Me too - had text re hsbc ,not got account there , but suspect it must be from recent comp.
I haven't entered Quizonaut and only give my mobile number on a few comps where absolutely neccessary.0 -
I've had a few texts and emails asking for info too. I use a specific shortened version of my first name when entering comps, so the scams are pretty obvious. But my banks have never asked me to click on a link and enter info that way anyway.

Just had the hsbc one - first ever spam text/call on the mobile number that's down to comping in over 6 years of entering (also don't do quizonaut)0

I've had a couple of months off comping and only started again today - I've only managed to enter comps ending from today up to 15th September and have also received the HSBC text - so this may narrow it down a further0

I've had the text too, but didn't think it was from a comp entryrainbow1976 wrote: »I've had a couple of months off comping and only started again today - I've only managed to enter comps ending from today up to 15th September and have also received the HSBC text - so this may narrow it down a further
I only enter ones ending the following day - except for the dailies. So it's either one that's ending today (12/09) or a daily one - on that note I've been entering the same dailies for about 2 weeks and haven't added any news onesThanks to all posters :A0 -
Highlights the usefulness of a comping mobile, it doesn't matter if you have an account with the particular bank they claim to be from as your bank would not have your comping mobile number to try and contact you on in the first place.0
