Critical illness - cancer

Hi this may seem a stupid question - I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and claimed on my L & G critical illness policy ( an employee benefit which I pay for via payroll) Three years on, I have been diagnosed with bladder cancer. Can I claim again on the same policy?

A CI plan usually ends when there is a successful claim.
Are you still paying premiums/is the policy still in force?I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Yes, i have not stopped paying premiums. Had no notification that the policy had ceased. Premiums are deducted from payroll

On a group critical illness policy it is possible to claim again in some instances, however, what L&G would want to know is if the bladder cancer is a metastases of the original breast cancer or a completely new cancer with no histological links to the breast cancer.
All you can do is try and make a claim and see what happens.0 -

Hi there, I am still paying premiums and have done even after the claim in 2012. It is @ £10 per month deducted from my salary. Like you, I would have thought that the plan would have ended after the otiginal claim. I am asking my HR/ payroll to clarify the position. Might I be entitled to a refund of the premiums I have subsequently paid?

If it still covered you for things other than cancer then no. Exclusions due to past history are allowed. I would have thought that you would have been notified after the claim of new exclusions. If they did not do this then a goodwill gesture may be in order.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
