    Never!
    How come I am not shunted onto these expensive schemes then, as I change regularly with my provider, which is constantly within £10 of the market cheapest! Even Martins club has yet to get me closer!
    Edit
    Just checked again at my elect bored and they are not showing. Arrrgh
  • What a complete and utter non-story. Can you imagine the uproar if these firms shunted you onto the cheapest deal at the end of your fix.

    It's not clear whether all suppliers warn customers when their fixed cheap deals are about to expire. MoneySavingExpert.com has asked regulator Ofgem whether firms are required to do this, and we'll update the story when we hear back
    It is very clear!

    https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/licences-codes-and-standards/licences/licence-conditions

    Electricity -> https://epr.ofgem.gov.uk//Content/Documents/Electricity%20Supply%20Standard%20Licence%20Conditions%20Consolidated%20-%20Current%20Version.pdf

    Gas -> https://epr.ofgem.gov.uk//Content/Documents/Gas%20supply%20standard%20licence%20conditions%20consolidated%20-%20Current%20Version.pdf
    22C.3 The licensee must prepare a statement (hereafter referred to as an “SLC 22C
    Statement of Renewal Terms”) which:
    ...
    (b) contains a prominent title which clearly informs the Domestic Customer
    that the fixed term period of their existing Fixed Term Supply Contract is
    due to end and they need to consider their options;

    And FWIW E.On last week sent me an email about this telling me the estimated annual consumption, how much it costs with my current tariff, how much it would cost if I do nothing, and how much it would cost if I change to their cheapest tariff (cheapest for my consumption).

    It's a 33.23% increase if I do nothing, and a 29.29% increase if I change to their cheapest. Bad tariffs, but they make it very clear.

    Ridiculous non-story.

    Nothing but a rehash of a press release by Octopus Energy.

    Title should be
    People who have gone to the trouble to find a good fixed rate deal will face a price increase if they don't do the same again when informed by their supplier that the deal is about to end.

    Doesn't have the same shock value though and we all know you can't let truth get in the way of that.

    Once again an MSE advertorial. I wonder where we can find these cheap deals, oh, maybe from the MSE Big Switch that starts tomorrow.

    Please stop with these stories, you are just devaluing the site, bringing it down to the same level as the other commercial ones that Martin so despises. I thought he still held ethical and editorial control, obviously not. This site has certainly changed since Martin sold his soul in exchange for gold !

    That silly article is the style of Ann Robinson from USwitch(not Anne Robinson of Botox fame)

    Had someone else posted that article on MSE it would have been reported!
  • I was being driven by a relative recently (something I try and avoid), and they had talksport on the radio (something I really try and avoid), and lo and behold during the ad break was Martin plugging his CEC. Not surprised really that the "impartiality" of this site is starting to waver.

    Non story by DM///
    Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    The best way to avoid huge price rises when your fixed tariff ends is to switch again. MSE's free Cheap Energy Club will help you find the best deal based on your household usage – and if you register by 8pm tonight (12 September), you'll be able to join our market-beating collective switch.

    We can't wait to see the market - beating collective switch.
