Over my limit

Hello, I have just got my second statement from Capital one and it states I spent 9p over my £200 limit, I called and spoke to quite a rude advisor who half heartedly reassured me it will not affect my credit rating, has anyone had any experience of this ? Only I have struggled to get credit and want to keep improving but obv this wouldn't look good.

Thank you

  • Should prob add I have cleared the 9p over balance payment not sure whether this changes the situation at all, be a shame to ruin my credit rating over this.
  • Check your files next month.

If it's there, call up again and see if they could remove it.

    How long were you overlimit?

If you're trying to (re)build a credit rating, keep well away from your credit limit, so even though it's only £200 then you'd be best only to spend up to, say, £100. Even without exceeding them, maxing out limits is rarely seen as a good thing by potential lenders....
