Barclays Additions - daily overdraft fee on free account?

Hi,
My husband submitted a claim and has received the questionnaire. Plus, a letter saying they will change the account to a non-fee paying account and 'This also means that although your overdraft limit will not change, the first £250.00 of your overdraft will no longer be fee free. You will instead pay a daily fee, currently £0.75 per day'.
Hubby is now having a wobble, saying perhaps he shouldn't claim because if he ends up in his overdraft for say, a month, he will end up being charged £22.50!
Not sure what to do from this point? He's had this Barclays account since he was a small child and really wants to keep it (whereas I am saying claim the money back & go elsewhere!)
Got Additions in May 2001, as they said he needed to have it in order to keep his overdraft so 15 years of paying the fee.

There are consequences to making a complaint when the reasons are a bit dubious. And this is one of them.Got Additions in May 2001, as they said he needed to have it in order to keep his overdraft so 15 years of paying the fee.
You can't have your cake and eat it. He put a complaint in on the basis that he didnt want the account with the free overdraft but instead wanted a non-packaged account. They agreed and are making the change. He either accepts it or goes elsewhere.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). So the consequence of wanting to keep an overdraft at Barclays incurs either a £13.50 or £22.50 fee each month? Right.
I am not sure how you can state the reasons for complaint are dubious when you don't know them? In May 2001, he was told in order to keep his overdraft, he needed to have an Additions account, for which he had to pay a monthly fee (£6.00 at the time). It was never mentioned it was a form of insurance at any time. He has never used any of the insurance services - because he was unaware of them until I saw a post on here about it and told him.
'He put a complaint in on the basis that he didnt want the account with the free overdraft' but it's not free is it? No matter which account you have apparently.0 -
I have done my questionnaire and telephone interview and have been refused any compensation..I was in the same boat as your husband..and have also cancelled the Additions side of the account and will be charged if I go overdrawn...
Sadly I have a loan with them but am tempted to move to another bank..
They have been very unhelpful0
