On-Line Estate Agents

Hello All,

I would be grateful if anybody could share their experiences of using one of the on-line estate agents (particularly emoov).

There seems to be significant cost savings on the traditional EA fees, and would like real life experiences of quality of service etc.

Many thanks for any help / comments.

Simple really: you need to be available to do the viewings.
  • IMHO it depends on what you're selling.
A 1 bed FTB flat listed on rightmove and zoopla doesn't have the same typical customer as a retirement village advertised in the local paper :)

To me they look quite expensive, given that they just advertise the property and

    1. You do the viewings
    2. Any problems with the process and you are on your own.
Estate agents earn their money managing the process, plenty of threads where the process stalls and the online agent offers no help.

Thanks for the replies - I will have another look for other threads.

Looking on the emoov website they say that they manage the process etc. (I understand about the viewings).

No experience of emoov but I used HouseNetwork and would definitely use them again.

As another poster mentioned the only downside is you have to do your own viewings but in return for that I literally saved several thousand pounds compared to a traditional estate agent.

Thanks, I will have a look at House Network
  • I have used HouseNetwork on a previous sale and I would recommend them also.. however...

DO NOT USE THEIR CONVEYANCING SERVICE!

It is contracted out to Premier Property Lawyers who are completely and utterly unprofessional and awful (look them up on Trustpilot etc). I was clueless at the time and just went along with the recommendation as HN themselves had been so good - I ended up calling them 17 times on the day of exchange for completion (and moving) the next day (after calling multiple times a day for weeks on end previously) and only found out I was exchanged and all systems were go at literally the last minute 16:59!!!! Totally unnecessary stress :(

Would definitely recommend this company. Answer emails very quickly and ring you up every few weeks to see how things are progressing.

Sorry this was a typo, was supposed to be "saved thousands of pounds!" To be more precise, from memory I actually paid under £1,000 to the online EA compared to the lowest quote from High St. EAs of over £4,000.

It's crazy that an otherwise great company would risk their reputation and repeat business for a kick back from a poor reputation company.

For the record I don't think many people would recommend that you use the EA-recommended conveyancer from any EA, whether online or High St.
