I've had a good day - 2 loads of washing and a bit bleach thrown around the bathroom! I made tea ( the veg was pre packed but who cares) didn't manage the dishes - had a shower but not managed to dry my hair! Little wins! Both kids at school tomorrow as littlest has been off 2 days so I'm back to work too!
MaddieMay I do all those things - it makes such a difference, and it's amazing what you can't done while the kettle boils!
I am still learning to forgive myself and realise I'm not perfect I have 2 kids, a job, house hold stuff to do and MS (and the rest that comes with it) sometimes you just need to give your self a break! I try to think of what I have done rather than what I haven't -
Mini wins!
* Shower
* 2loads of washing
* Proper tea
* all with a small person bothering me all day
* kids bathed - fed and in bed!Living the simple life0 -
Evening all
Re getting stuff done.... when I have bad periods of pain - I make sure I do something while the ads are on (we dont actually need to be made to feel more inadequate do we!) or the kettle boils! So load some of the washing machine/take the rubbish out/ half dry up/ half wash up etc etc
Also never leave a room or go upstairs without something that needs putting elsewhere - and teach your kids to do the same.
Re teenagers. Every single mother in the world who looked after her own children has stood at the bottom of the stairs on a school morning screaming like a bansheee!! Anyone who says they havent is either lying or never looked after their own kids!!! :rotfl:
Re teenagers and tyding up! They dont!! Floordrobes are the rule of the day. As a single Mum meself with two lads I used to shout at them to take stuff up of theirs that I could see when they went up stairs. IF I found stuff of theirs arround I literally used to throw it into their bedrooms. After a few precious things were broken and their protests met with 'Well, if you cant be bothered to look after it why should I?' they began to take care of the things that were important to them.
Do the important bits first - the rest can wait. clean food areas. clean loos. clean clothes. the rest can wait until you have a good day/ very boring adverts.
Well done for you today - you got kids to school; did washing; sorted food; sorted out cheap way of getting your car through its MOT Brilliant!!! AND you had the cash to hand! Fantastic!!!
Praise yourself for what you do achieve - no one, not even me, is superwoman!! (~If you saw me you would realise that the outfit would not fit!! :rotfl:

Treasure Hunt - each time I enter a room and see something in the wrong place try to return it to it's home.
One thing I've found helpful is to never leave a room empty handed.
It could be cups in the lounge I put in the sink, or coats that need hanging as I walk through the hall, but there's always something in the room I'm in that needs to be in the room I'm going to or through.
Baby steps.
... though I do have to confess sometimes it's taking a cup into the kitchen to make tea in it and bring it back out again - but at least it saves me dirtying a new cup and making the mess worse :AAlmost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Teenagers love them lots I had 3 - they grow up, leave home and you will miss them. House will be quiet and tidy.:beer: I do flylady and have done for years and it works for me. Thanks for the tip for ringpull thingie mine arrived this morning and I am enjoying a diet cola. I know they are bad for me but help to make my pills work quicker.:p
We have had loads of sunny days here and what a difference the heat makes on my aches and pains.0 -
Also to add about teenagers mine only got to eat in the kitchen no food or drink in their rooms and also their rooms had to be kept tidy or at least look tidy before they got pocket money. I divided up my child allowance and they had to buy everything they needed with that and it taught them to budget. I handed them their clean bedding once a week ( they each had a different day) and they changed their beds and dumped the dirty bedding in the hallway for me to wash. They tidied their own rooms and hovered them for me as well.
If their dirty clothes football or cricket kit didn't get put in the laundry basket they knew it would not get washed0 -

Not having a good day today - needed two doses of Oramorph before 10:00 this morning, which is not so good; no matter, hopefully be better tomorrow. Mr LW has stepped up to the plate and done a barrow-load of cleaning - sheep-onna-stick round the tops of the walls (much evicting of spiders there), cleaned the tops of the fridge freezer and the kitchen cupboards, and dusted all the flat surfaces in bedroom #2 which is actually used for storage. So well done to him. :A HM pizza for dins again (I tend to make it on days I have to do a loaf, as the bread machine is down from it's perch anyway).
I hope everyone is having the best day they can today.

LW: Sorry you are not having such a good day today. Well done Mr LW on the cleaning. Obviously a man to treasure!
I pulled out a rarely moved cupboard today and rendered a few spiders homeless. It's strange, it has made no difference at all to the look of the room but I feel incredibly smug knowing that the unseen place is grime free.
Grunnie: You have evidently got your teenagers well trained.
I was at a big disadvantage as I was divorced, and in those days the wife was taxed on any maintenance payment in her name so the custom was to have the children's maintenance payments put in their own names.
My ex took the opportunity to kick me a bit more and opened bank accounts for the boys and paid them the money. He then showed them the court order that said that this was their maintenance and told them that the money belonged to them and on no account must they give it to me.
You try telling a 12 and 14yearold that this money was to pay for food, clothes, electricity etc.
I had no sanctions regarding money as they didn't need any from me.
It did them no favours as when they finally left full time education this supply of free
money stopped abruptly. They missed it!
I had to be very imaginative where discipline was concerned.
This is very off subject, sorry.

Today an achievement.
I just cooked an actual balanced meal - with all three food groups.
First time this week.
Microwaved sweet potato cut into chunks for the sproglets, frozen white fish filets, and a bag of pre-prepared veg.
Bland but hot and filling.

This thread inspires and makes me so proud of all you wonderful people with poor health who get on and make the most of all things old style :T
On the other hand it makes me sad to hear about so much inequality and struggle it is for too many. I've had a wee greet about some of you :A
I know we're not supposed to post anything medical but I'm surprised that GPs are prescribing things like antidepressants, other psychiatric drugs and meds for very complicated situations. Why aren't people getting referrals to consultants and specialists? My meds only started to work once I'd seen a psychiatrist and nerve pain specialist. My GP is fantastic but she knows her boundaries.
After a few years of illness and some time off work I went back full time last October then we all agreed I would try 3 days for a 6 month pilot due up the end of this oct. well I just had a pre review of the review of that and my manager thinks it's best if I stick a 3 days ongoing. I'm gutted and angry at myself for letting my condition win. I wanted to go back full time, I miss the money. My other colleague is having a year career break and they think the cost saving of this topped up by my 2 days would be able to get someone "better" and more reliable in. To say I'm annoyed would be putting it politely.
I don't feel I'm adding much to this thread, wish I could but I'm at a funny place and once again am going to have to accelerate my old style living even more.
Can we have an old style stick our chins in the air and all say *ugger them!
Thank you to everyone here for your wisdom and support xxx0 -
Quick one from me .I've been trying to catch up on my neglected threads while doing urgent phone calls and catching up on paperwork .
welcome back to Maddie May .
Katkin The problem is the NHS is on it's uppers at the moment and sadly you do have to be very determined and explore all avenues for the correct treatment . Try not to be annoyed at yourself and imo that colleague needs to be very wary of the Disability act . That is unkind and not at all professional . I've said before this is not just hints if posters are hurting emotionally this is a safe place to get feelings and worries out x
Well done Ariarna but be sure to get some rest .
Monna I have only one printable word for toxic ex husbands KARMA . By the way where were Judge Judy and yourself when that sentence would have been very effective too late now . I did do the poor you one !
LW I hope you get some rest and feel a little better tomorrow x
Nice to see LynP . As a lurker on the mmm thread I always enjoy your posts .
Tink Get some rest tomorrow !
Sorry to those I've missed . I need to catch up properly as there were some good ideas in the last couple of days . Also I mean to mention what helps me with hair washing . So will aim to get back on tomorrow when I am less tired .
I wish a peaceful night to you all
