Did it have Ming written under the base? If so... :eek:You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

I would be a little concerned if the hotel has your credit card details and after departure, they decide to put a hefty charge on it for the damage.
I would certainly try to resolve this before you leave, but it's a shame this has happened as you are on holiday to enjoy yourself, not worry about something that has occurred accidentally that the hotel owner should have seen was a reasonably foreseeable occurrence in a public area.
Hope you get it sorted.0 -
I think you're going to have to talk to her ASAP and ask her the name of the maker , and take a photo. Ask directly the price it will cost to replace.
You need to establish the cost now.
If it's a lot of money it gives you chance to check out similar items while you are there. You could perhaps tell her your insurance company is asking for this information .you need to be really polite to establish if she is trying to rip you off
It may be something and nothing ..0 -
Has she calmed down now?
I would just apologize, they will have ins, tell them they are lucky no one was hurt.0 -
thanks for all the advice, in the end she never actually spoke to me again! Her husband dealt with our checkout etc and charged us €7 so a worry over nothing. I do think she acted unprofessionally and the ornaments must have meant something to her and I was relieved they didn't try and rip us off but still, she ruined a day of our holiday!0

Maybe worth a mention on TripAdvisor. You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

My guess is that it was of sentimental value to her, and that she was very upset about it which was why she reacted as she did in the heat of the moment. Maybe she then realised that she was at fault so removed herself from the situation. It could have been the last item her late mother bought for the hotel, or something of that kind. I would just be glad that it didn't escalate and chalk it down to emotions of the moment.0
