Do you still have mutual friends? Would they be able to help?
  • I suppose if you really want to make a scene then post the snapshot of text messages to his facebook page and tag his family and friends.

.... But so far as the money is concerned I think its gone, as others have suggested consider it a very very cheap lesson in friendship and money matters.
Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard.
Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard.
Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard.
Communication is hard. Not communicating is hard. Choose your hard.
Life will never be easy. It will always be hard. But you can choose your hard.

I'd write it off myself and forget about the clown who lost a friend.

OP was the person concerned a good friend ?

Had you known them a long time ?
  • Have to admit, I wouldn't instigate legal action for fifty quid!

The person in question would be an ex friend pretty quickly though.

You could try Judge Rinder if you're that desperate. The other week I saw a woman on there who was bringing her daughter to court because she hadn't paid back £75!

You could not make it up. :(
Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

    You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more! :D

Hello. 6 Months ago I lent my friend £50. He will not pay it back giving me excuse after excuse after excuse. He sporadically replies to my text messages and wont answer my calls. I know its only £50 but it is the principle. I have 6 months worth of text messages from him confirming the debt and I also have messages from his mother too. Could someone please please please advise if there is anything I can do? It is keeping me up at night thinking that my friend (ex friend) is laughing knowing full well that he is not going to pay it back.

    Thanks

Could you ask his mum to pay you the money back (tell her that you desperately need the money for such-and-such) and let her chase her son for reimbursement?
  • £50 is a bargain for finding out a friend is not really a friend.
